[The moment she hears the gate close, Rosalind disappears. In a flash she's reappeared just outside the pen proper; another blink and she's a good few feet away. Panting softly, she eyes the growling dragons with satisfaction.]
There. A good deal of money for not a great deal of work.
[ With a sigh of relief Angel half collapses back against the fence, catching breath she didn't realize she was short on before finally looking Rosalinds way. ]
[ "Mere" isn't really a word that belongs before "teleportation." Even though Angel comes from a world with ancient aliens and Sirens and space travel. Or that they're currently residing in a world that allows them to teleport between a space station and land, it's still always a production. Huge devices are needed, or mythical powers- Rosalind had mentioned she was not human. Angel eyes her for a moment, looking for the signs of a portable device but sees nothing that stands out, which likely means the ability comes from Rosalind herself. ]
You make it sound so banal, was an ability like that commonplace in your world?
No. We didn't stay in the same universe long enough for it to happen. Frankly, none of us wanted to be noticed. Though Robert and I did enjoy terrifying a man once . . .
Why? Did you have something like that in your world?
[ Ah, Rosalind had mentioned a past involving time travel and multiverses. She had so many questions about such a thing that she never knew where to start. It would be unbelievable if it weren't for her own circumstances. ]
So your ability to teleport freely is related to your ability to travel time and space at large? It's related to your accident.
[ Accident is probably too light a word to use in regard to someones own life ending but... ]
Yes, the "Sirens", women with cosmic abilities, would regularly attract cult followings for their abilities.
I suppose that is the best outcome you could ask for.
[ If like, death is the only other option gaining powers to manipulate time and space instead is pretty sweet, actually. ]
Each individual Siren had her own unique set of powers, some similar to your ability in that another plan of existence was accessed and moved through, another used that same plane to halt perceived enemies for a period of time, trapping them between dimensions. Another....she could manipulate world around her, though her powers were siphoned for more specific purposes, as far as I know.
no worries!
There. A good deal of money for not a great deal of work.

How- What was that, that you just did?

[She says, like it's normal.]
Dematerializing myself and rematerializing a few feet away. Nothing to worry about, I assure you, I'm still me and all that, nothing's changed.

[She nods her head, indicating they ought to head out.]
But it was an ability that came easily to us.

A powerful ability granted to a small number of people, the comparison to Sirens in that regard continued to be apt. ]
Did people worship you for it?

[She seems pleased Angel had deduced that.]
What could your Sirens do?
