CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Rosalind Lutece
Age: Early 30's
Canon: Bioshock Infinite

World Description: Here!

History: Here!

CRAU: N/A

Death: Beefore the game begins, Rosalind is persuaded/blackmailed by her beloved to do the right thing and fix their mistakes. But turns out when you vow to do that and go against a really rich, poewrful man, there are consequences! Rosalind's rival was paid to sabotage her machine and have it explode, killing her and making it look like an error. In canon, this backfired, and she and Robert were instead elevated, becoming weirdo NPCs who can be cryptic and move through time and space like it ain't no thang. In this game, however, she just straight up died from the explosion.

What are your plans for this character in-game? Initially, I'd have two goals: the first would be to have Rosalind cope with the afterlife. She's a woman who not only is firmly entrenched in science and rationality, but who has worked for decades with a man who claimed to have religious visions that were truly her scientific work. The concept of an afterlife at all will be difficult for her, as will the concept of being dead. Which leads me to number two, which is: Rosalind has to cope without Robert! This is not a really great thing for her, as her entire life quite literally revolves around Robert, and has since she was a teenager. She's never had to be without him, and even the threat of it in game is enough to emotionally blackmail her. She'll be adrift, and may have to rethink her mental state and how she approaches things.

What aspects of this game and/or its setting are you most interested in having this character engage with? I'm really interesting in her having to survive! She won't have any technology or even the things to begin constructing anything, which will throw her for an enormous loop. She's very much a person who thrives in a city setting, and so to be so thrown off will unnerve her, and make her more open towards relying on others. I'm also interested in her researching the creatures that populate the game. Finally, I want to see how she deals with the survival/horror aspect, given that those things have never really been a part of her life, and she just recently died by failing a spot check, so to speak. Learning survival skills will be a sudden and utterly new priority for her.

How does your character generally get along with other people? It depends on what you mean by get along with. No one but Robert has ever had her affection, but she can also put on a professional and neutral air. Within the game, I think eventually she'll make allies (maybe friends? who can say!), solely for her own sanity, once it sinks in that Robert isn't coming back.

What is your character's mental state upon entering the game? She's real mad. She'll be furious at her rival, furious at her former employer, and most of all, furious at herself, because she'll blame herself for not foreseeing this, and for being the cause of Robert's death (and her own, obviously, but Robert). She'll put off mourning what she lost for as long as possible, but that will build, and will come out in various aspects.

Skills/Abilities: N/A, she's just a normal human being right now. A genius, though, so there's that.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Hello, have I mentioned Robert? Seriously, that's her Achilles's heel. Robert merely had to threaten he'd leave her and Rosalind gave in to a large, life-threatening, and what she deemed pointless endeavor, because she couldn't stand the thought of losing him. Her entire life has revolved around keeping him: bringing him to her world, keeping him alive, being near him at all costs. So yes, anything to do with him would just gut her, emotionally.

On a personality level, she's incredibly selfish. No one (beyond Robert) takes precedence over her. She's self-aware of her actions, but doesn't care about the consequences. For example: she doesn't mind working for a delusional, ultra-religious politician who routinely swindled both his flock and members of Congress; he funds her research gladly, and that's all that matters. She knows that she helped build his platform, and she's privately unimpressed with him, but doesn't make any moral standing against him, because why should she? She's perfectly fine in this scenario. Another example: said politician kidnapped an infant and claimed to the city that his wife had born it in a few days in yet another miracle. His wife, who had not born the child, obviously knew better and hysterically accused Rosalind of having an affair with her husband. Rosalind could have assured her otherwise, but instead was equal parts disgusted and vaguely amused. She denied it, but she didn't really put much effort into convincing the wife, because who cares.

Personality: Rosalind is selfish, yes, but she's morally neutral, not morally evil. She can care for others, and does intensely when she thinks of them as hers. In a game, that can involve any lab assistants she's gathered, friends or companions, things of that nature. She'll go to bat for them, not just because she likes them but because they're now hers, and though no one will ever compare to Robert, she's still determined to keep the things she likes safe.

She's a fairly pessimistic person. Compared to Robert, the optimist and the golden boy, Rosalind has been disappointed by life and it shows. She's always aggressively realistic (you're so much less disappointed if you expect nothing, although not always). The sort of person who will tell you that the glass is half-empty (and, possibly, insist on a larger glass for herself, because why shouldn't she).

That being said, she has fun in her own way, too, when she's comfortable: playing with language, drawling out wry remarks; dancing (with Robert), playing baseball (with Robert), appreciating the fine arts (guess who stole that lost Rembrandt painting it was her and Robert), and so on. Her life isn't all science, despite what she might want others to think.

Items: Some real burnt-ass clothing I tell you what, she's gonna be furious that her clothes are all busted.
