Oh, good god. Did they function the same as they do here?

As far as I'm aware, yes. They look quite similar, as well; not a variation of what was described to me by someone else.

What does this imply, then? That Retrospec is taking pages from another universe's book, so to speak?

Perhaps. Perhaps that this is a large-scale case of gifting us with items: I was given my book, but you were given the animals, though you didn't know it until recently.

What do you remember about them, specifically?

Beyond what we already know about them here, people often dyed their feathers. A variety of colors, too. Pink, red, white, blue, green, etc.

Black ones existed, too, but they were rarer than the yellow ones. There was something special about them, I think.

That it was my steadfast companion as I travelled the land, healing the sick. It was quick on its feet when it needed to be, and both sturdy and gentle. A loyal steed, as it goes.

I can't. A shame, really, for I remember a distinct fondness for the creature, and wouldn't simply forget its name so easily.

I suppose Retrospec wasn't kind enough to grant me that little detail just yet.

Ardyn, my branch of science once named something 'The Enormous Theorem' because it was indeed a theorem that was enormous. We're not known for being creative. Besides, I'm trying to inspire you to come up with something better; the bar can't be any lower.

"Kweh!" is a noise a chocobo makes, if you haven't noticed. "-son" is a common addition to a family surname; Son of Kweh. Kwehson.

I suppose it's a last name, at any rate.
