I suppose we have that in common, then: I moved here from England only a few years ago. Rather odd living in America, isn't it?

America is odd, but I got used to it pretty fast. Is England so different than America, then?

I do. They need to be stopped.

It isn't so much so that I was lost upon arriving here. It's more that I miss the food and culture of home. I can replicate some of the former here, but the latter is impossible to regain.

I understand completely. I miss the festivals from home, the celebrations around here don't even compare. And America, what have you done to baseball?

Anything in particular from home that just isn't the same here?

Don't forget how they've mangled football. Oh, I'm sorry: soccer.

But beyond the climate . . . odd as it sounds, the slang. I don't know if it's different when you come from a country with an entirely different language, but it's very odd to regard a whole host of things and be told there's a different word for them.

Apartment. Umbrella. Elevator. Television. Wrench. Drunk. The list goes on.

Doesn't sound odd at all. A little reminder that no matter how normal this place seems, it isn't quite home. It's got to bring it up every time you see one of those.

I get it! The Hanshin Tigers are terrible, but if an American tries to tell me they're terrible, I'll defend them so hard.
