[He can't believe this is how he's going to spend the beginning of his work day on campus.]

Mr. Lamperouge!

[He calls out again, but of course he doesn't expect for the boy to stop if he's already made the decision to bolt. Ardyn's legs are long, too, so he'll be gaining ground against the young man; but when met with a staircase, he's given a choice, and his eyes flicker both up and downwards, trying to decide.

Thinking through it logically, it would make less sense for him to have fled upstairs. That requires more effort, and doesn't lead to an convenient exit (unless the boy wanted to fly off the roof, or take the fire escape.) Downstairs led to the exit proper, and if one were trying to escape from a roving professor, why not try to run all the way across campus? There's only so much that someone would truly want to chase someone, right? (Spoiler: Ardyn is very stubborn and will move for as long his legs work.)

So downstairs it is, then. If he's wrong and doesn't catch sight of him, he can always check back later.]

[ look he wasn't expecting for anyone to actually chase him, let him live.

so! the thing about lelouch is that he's quite a strategic planner, so he's probably planned for this eventuality. ardyn is absolutely right in that he went downstairs, but! halfway through when ardyn makes his way down the stairs, lelouch is going to dart right past him and go upstairs instead - breaking into a bit of a run while he's at it just to put just a little more distance between them. of course, ardyn's welcome to try and grab him as he runs past but lelouch is making sure that he's against the wall so he's possibly out of reach for the most part.

but yes. anyway. once ardyn makes it to the upstairs landing, he'll hear the patter of footsteps and the telltale swing of a classroom door being opened, then it falling shut because lelouch is just going to let the door swing shut while he makes his way over to the window to catch his breath.

follow? ]

lelouch pls

[Of course he'll follow. He's already too deep in Chase After the Student hell to stop now.

The boy is slippery, that's for sure. He needs more meat on his bones so Ardyn can properly grab him the next time he tries to slip on by. And so up he goes, and now Ardyn is going to have to follow up the stairs. Lelouch is so lucky that he hasn't gotten his warping abilities back yet.

At any rate, it's easy enough to follow into a thankfully unoccupied classroom, and he spots Lelouch near the window. Ardyn is also going to have to take time to catch his breath but that can always wait until he's achieved his goal; if his lungs burst before then, at least he died in an interesting way.]

Where do you think you're going?
