I didn't stay home, no, but I'm an officer who knows the drill. I was minimally injured, saw medics immediately, and have completed the treatment. You doing okay?
[ The way she phrases it makes it seem like it wasn't here - at least, not in this recent disaster. Jim isn't sure how to respond and make it sound alright; he wonders if someone who hasn't also died would know. ]
Thank you. But odd as it may sound, it honestly turned out to be a good thing, ultimately. And it gives me a decent perspective on what a few of our refugees have gone through.
I can see how that would be. I don't particularly understand why the Natha are willing to do things like selectively de-activate communicators to hide their presence all the way to resurrect people, while refusing to let us act to our full potential, but I'm glad in this instance that people are able to be healed.
[ Maybe he'll tell her (or anyone), eventually. He's in such a habit of just not. ]
Lasted until the siege on the tower to get people who'd been taken. It activated when I got my hand slammed in a door and a chair thrown at me simultaneously, then didn't again after that.
It's meant to withstand multiple bullet rounds, it ought to last longer than that. Though I suppose there was some cancellation affect in place, given none of the captives could use their powers . . . still. That's worrying.
I'll think about it. It's possible I'm just an anomaly, which wouldn't be uncommon for my history - my mother spent most of her pregnancy with me in space. Early radiation differences sometimes put me out of whack.
On the plus side, I was the only person in my space diving class that didn't puke into a helmet the first time. :)

I'm perfectly fine. I was even cleared to head back to work.
What about you?
[""""""cleared"""""]

I wasn't taken anywhere.

You weren't taken. But I don't doubt you got caught up in some kind of fight somewhere. I can't imagine you content to simply stay home.

[A few seconds pass, and then:]
Once you've died once, any injury pales in comparison.

I'm sorry to hear that, in any event.

What other side-effects does that radiation give you?
no subject
Usually just atypical reactions to medications.

What kinds of reactions?

[ No coddling. Suck it up, cadet. ]
Allergic ones? If my CMO wakes up you can drill him, he hates me. He's also my best friend, so it works out pretty well.
